Had to Pass is a series detailing how I fall out of love and pass on products I initially intended to buy or already have in my collection. You may read more here.
When the Rustan's beauty crew first met up (read President V's account here), I added three things to my wishlist: Chanel Revelation (Shari kasi!) MAC Fix + and Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadow in Metallic Laurel (Php 1850).

This foil shadow is a divine two-step eye shadow. You take a bit of Stila eye primer, which is in oil form, and work the eyeshadow with it on the included mixing pan.

You can definitely use it without primer, and the result applies like a smattering of bigger glitter chunks over some glitter shadow. With primer, it looks other worldly. It almost looks as if you've grown a layer of crumpled foil over your skin AND I KNOW THE DESCRIPTION DOESN'T SOUND APPEALING but it looks crazy amazing!

I'm still trying to get myself unstuck from the deep commercialism we bloggers tend to let ourselves get sucked into so I put these three things under the 3-month rule. In your love life, you're supposed to rebound a respectable three months after a break up, right? With beauty purchases, it means that you're supposed to wait 3 months after "love at first sight" BEFORE buying said products. I made this rule up to somewhat tame my more unreasonable lemmings.
And I don't know, Chanel brings out the worst in me and I'm such a slut for picking it up 1-1.5 months after seeing it. I literally couldn't get it off my mind! Stila Magnificent Metals is a different story. I intended to purchase all three items but as soon as I stepped into Rustan's I felt an ominous sense with Stila. V says local Stila doesn't seem terribly overpriced but I still begged off getting it.
I guess once I had the much more unforgettable Chanel Revelation on my hands, I realized that Stila Magnificent Metals in Metallic Laurel is precisely the reason why I made the 3-month rule. It would probably be only used once or twice in the immediate future, before completely getting lost in the blackhole that is my "non-everyday but good makeup" stash.
My wallet unclenched its opening and heaved a sigh of relief. I guess all's well that ends well.
